IRS Insight Into Forms 990 and 1023

The director of the exempt organizations division of the IRS spoke last week at Georgetown and posted her comments to the IRS website, available at the link below. Her remarks provide some insight into the Service’s evaluation of the governance portion of Form 990, as well as the process and timeline for evaluating Form 1023 applications for recognition of exemption, an issue that is near and dear to the hearts of new organizations that are anxious to receive tax-deductible contributions.
